Bring on the Summer Colors!

Hello again! Today, I've got some cool nails to show off. I tried a new technique called water-spotting. It's really similar to water marbling but I would say causes about a millionth of the frustrations. It worked perfectly on my first try (unlike water-marbling). I did a based coat of Mint Sorbet by Sally Hansen Xtreme and used Coral Reef (same brand) for the water spotting part. Here are the results! The colors didn't photograph as bright as they were in real life, unfortunately - but I think they still look pretty spiffy!

Let's just take a moment...

...to appreciate our natural nails! But really, how strange is it that we grow these things off of our fingers in order to protect them, and we've turned them into this strange little canvas? So before I paint my nails, I'd like to give an homage to all the wonderful plain nails out there. Here are mine, coated with this new hardener polish called "Quimica Alemana" that's supposed to help my nails harden and stop splitting all the time. I played volleyball with it on yesterday and there were DEFINITELY multiple times a couple of my nails should have snapped, but they remained strong in the face of adversity!

Ok, enjoy!

Introducing my cloud mani

I feel like cloud manis are one of those that most self-proclaimed lacqueristas have tried at some point in their lives. Yet, this is my first! It only took me an hour and a half to choose my three colors. I ended up going with my two Zoyas and a white by Sally Hansen Xtreme. It's more subtle, but I like the color combo.

Still getting my photo-taking techniques down.. Do you know how hard it is to hold a DSLR steady with only one hand??

Gotta start somewhere, right?

Welcome to my blog! This is where you'll find my latest experiments in the world of nail art. I hope you enjoy! If you have any questions please let me know!

This first manicure being featured is putting my new nail polish to good use! The green (which I have a hard time coming up with a good adjective to describe) is by Essie, called "First Timer" (appropriate for a first post, no?) I stamped some silver zebra over it with Sally Hansen Xtreme "Celeb City". This is also my first manicure after I've decided to attempt to shape my nails. They're suppose to be a little more square...still practicing my filing techniques!
